Dear Friends/Colleagues

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our beloved colleague, Professor Marlies Bongers, from the Netherlands. Marlies was a member of the ESGE Executive Board and an Associate Editor of Facts, Views and Vision Journal. She was very popular within the ESGE family with her smile and kind personality. She was an outstanding clinician and gave the utmost importance to a scientific approach to determine the efficacy and safety of the treatments/procedures we use in our daily practice. She published a number of landmark randomised controlled trials with her team. One of her last wishes was to strengthen the ties between the ESGE and the Dutch Endoscopy Society, WGE again.

Marlies will be missed very much by the ESGE family and the wider global gynaecology community. We send our deepest condolences to her family and her colleagues.
